Eskom Grid Access Unit for IPPs and generators

Eskom has set up the Grid Access Unit (GAU) for IPPs and generators with the main objective of being the point of contact or entry for Independent Power Producers (IPPs) & generators grid connection to the Eskom grid and to service their customer needs. This unit is also set up with sufficient autonomy to facilitate non-discriminatory grid access for IPPs and generators. Ensuring transparency on pricing policy, network contracts, and operating agreements are part of the unit’s output. Optimised processes with other Eskom units are developed and continuously enhanced.

The relationship between the IPP customer and the GAU will continue after connection to include dispatch and balancing rules for the future, accommodates billing queries and requirements and to support long term affiliations.
