Grid Access Process for Generators

For any queries related to grid access please contact Wolfgang Bohmer at BohmerW@eskom.co.za

Introduction

IPPs that wish to connect to Eskom's network will be required to apply for a connection, pay a connection charge and sign a connection and use-of-system agreement.

IPPs will be provided non-discriminatory access to Eskom's network.  This access is, however, subject the the IPP obtaining its required approvals such as EIA's and a generating and trading licence from NERSA.

To find out more about the application process, please refer to the next section

Schedule of standard prices

A national framework for the use of system charges applicable to generators is in the process of being developed by the National Enegy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA). Currently Eskom charges service and administration charges.
