Criteria for the evaluation of applications

Donations may only be considered in compliance with all of the criteria below
To formally constituted/registered organisations.
No donation may be approved to the same organisation for operations in the same area more than once in the same financial year.
Not to the same applicant more than once in one financial year by more than one Eskom source.
The following causes and events do not qualify for donations
For political party activities (directly and indirectly).
For trade union activities (directly and indirectly).
To church/religious organisations, unless the organisation is non-profit and has an outreach programme that directly benefits the community, for example, AIDS hospice.
For the benefit of individuals.
For Eskom employees or their families.
For organisations where Eskom employees hold shares.
For franchises.
For profit-making organisations or individuals.
For visits/trips to other countries, whatever the cause or reason.
For attendance of national and international conferences.
Awards ceremonies.
Celebrations.
Sports events.
Events and excursions (including transport).
Government departments:
- Inaugurations.
- Launches.
For any activity/project/organisation or cause that has objectives infringing on the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of South Africa.
Donations may not be considered for economic and social development projects, as these applications are considered with different approval criteria.
Grants may only be considered for the following
Economic projects (formally constituted/registered SMMEs).
Social projects (formally constituted/registered non-profit, welfare, voluntary, community-based organisations).
Economic projects that subscribe primarily to the objectives of ASGISA:
- Skills development
- Job creation
- Capacity building
- Poverty alleviation
- Social projects that create a conducive environment for the success, growth and sustainability of economic projects.
The support and promotion of Eskom business to harmonise its activities in local communities.

External Trusts and Foundations, except where they are contracted to execute a contract for an Eskom CSI project.
Celebrations.
Sports events.
Events and excursions (including transport).
Government departments:
- Inaugurations.
- Launches.
Social projects
That are not formally constituted/registered
For profit-making projects
For individuals
For Eskom employees or their families
For any activity/project/organisation or cause that has
objectives infringing on the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of South Africa.
Economic projects
That is not formally constituted / registered.
For start-up projects unless the project is an Eskom- initiated pilot project.
For individual enrichment
Same project owner/beneficiary more than once within a province or in other provinces.
A subsequent grant may be considered for the same project based on merit and performance.
For the acquisition/takeover of businesses.
For the purchase of share options.
For projects that do not comply with Eskoms policy on broad- based black economic empowerment.
For any activity/project/organisation or cause that has objectives infringing on the Bill of Rights and the Constitution and legislation of the Republic of South Africa.
