About ECSF (Eskom & Construction Services Forum)
Numerous world market industries are currently experiencing major economic and construction booms of which South Africa is no exception. The past year alone has seen a huge need for contractors in the country to effectively handle and execute SA’s numerous Build Programmes. The effort required throughout the country to execute all committed projects of this scale has resulted in a significant shortage of capacity, materials and skilled resources. This is more than likely to constrain Eskom’s Build Programme if it is unaddressed. As a result, Eskom has taken an urgent decision to join hands with the Industrial Sectors to address these critical issues. The Eskom & Construction Services Forum (ECSF) is a strategic initiative that remains at a high-level to address security of supply issues across the Capital Expansion Programme, to help make a difference in Eskom’s structural procedures for the mutual benefit of the associated industries. The Build Programme is looked at in a holistic manner. Individual project details, risks and/ or issues will not be addressed in isolation of each other but rather viewed strategically for the benefit of all Capital Expansion Projects in the funnel. It must be emphasized that individual/ unique project aspects will not be overlooked in this regard. This Joint Initiative is a strategic approach by Eskom to effectively manage or eliminate Build Programme risks not to compromise project successes. The forum is driven by the wider and specific imperative to ensure sustainability within the country. The Eskom & Construction Services Forum (ECSF) is led and managed through:
The Eskom & Construction Services Forum (ECSF) will thus meet quarterly (approx. once every three months) to address the security of supply for the mutual benefit of Eskom its associated industries. |
