Philanthropic donations
Donations may only be considered in compliance with all of the criteria below:
To a formally constituted/registered non-profit, welfare, voluntary, community-based organisation.
To promote Eskoms involvement in the communities close to its operations and within its municipal boundary.
For the promotion of goodwill in the local community.
For the support and promotion of Eskom business units
to harmonise their activities in local communities.
Donations may be considered for fund-raising events provided that the cause or beneficiary institution is a formally constituted/registered organisation and 100% of the donation from Eskom shall be for the benefit of the listed beneficiary organisations.
No donation may be approved to the same organisation more than once in the same financial year for operations in the same municipal area.
Strategic donations
Disaster relief
A disaster area is one declared such by government or an announcement in the media. Eskom defines a disaster as a result of a natural (Act of God) or man-made disaster, such as fire. To this end, an application in this category shall be considered where 20 or more households are affected and it is of strategic importance that Eskom is seen to contribute to such disasters (paid from the strategic donations budget).
Strategic donations
Strategic donations are considered for approval where the cause is deemed of strategic importance to Eskom and/or its operations.
Compliance
Donations may only be considered in compliance with all of the criteria below:
Eskom supports identified commemorative days that may be considered of strategic importance to be considered for a strategic donation.
Such donations shall have a national, external impact and coverage.
Such donations shall be budgeted for and approved by the Development Foundation only.
