In addition to making donations to worthy causes, Eskom is also active in making a positive contribution to various community causes. It achieves this by staging events linked to causes and through the effective promotion of the events, bringing the causes to the attention of the right influential people within society.
Joy & Jewels
An annual, much anticipated event on the South African calendar is the Joy & Jewels charity auction which is held in Sandton, Gauteng, to coincide with Women’s Day - a national public holiday and women’s month in August.
Beneficiaries have ranged from iKhaya Lethemba – a refuge for abused women, The Teddy Bear Clinic for abused children, Family Justice Support Services, Places of Safety for Children and the Breast Health Foundation.
In addition to financial assistance, the Foundation, as part of its i-Volunteer employee programme, will be encouraging staff around the country to give of their time to similar NGOs that create places of safety for women and children.
Joy & Jewels sees prominent women from the business and public sectors attend a day of joy, jewels and the opportunity to bid on specially commissioned rare items of jewelery and art.
