Public notification - Road Safety during the festive season
Eskom has taken a decision to halt the operation of approximately 1500 coal transporting trucks by stopping coal deliveries over the following critical periods:
- From 12:00 on the 23rd December 2011 to 06:00 on the 27th December 2011
- From 12:00 on the 30th December 2011 to 06:00 on the 3rd January 2012
The following roads have been identified as high road accidents routes by the Mpumalanga roads authority:
N2, N3, N11, N17, R23, R35, R40 and R573
It is advisable to take note of the emergency numbers reflected on road signs of the national and provincial road authorities for the roads that you will be travelling on.
Please report any coal truck related incidents and poor coal truck driver behaviour on the coal haulage route (as shown in the map) to the Rotran Call Centre on 0860 768 726.
