Failure to pay leads to scheduled supply interruption to Matjhabeng Local Municipality

THURSDAY, 06 DECEMBER 2018: Matjhabeng Local Municipality’s failure to meet their payment obligation to Eskom has resulted in scheduled supply interruptions to the Municipality commencing on Monday, 10 December 2018.

Allanridge, Flamingo Park, Hennenman, Lafarge, Whites, Odendaalsrus, Riebeeckstad, Ventersburg, Virginia and Welkom will be affected.

A notice to interrupt supply to the Municipality on 28 November 2018 was published on 09 November 2018. The interruption was suspended following a payment arrangement. Matjhabeng Local Municipality did however not meet their payment obligation on 03 December 2018.

To ensure that defaulting Free State municipalities adhere to the conditions of their payment agreements with Eskom, the power utility closely monitors their payments and immediately institutes corrective action at the first signs of default.
