ESKOM TO DISCONNECT SUPPLY TO WESTRAND POWER DISTRIBUTORS
Thursday 23 January 2020: Eskom intends to disconnect supply to Westrand Power Distributors for the R18 786 593,07 it owes the utility. The planned disconnection was  communicated on 24 December 2019.
 
“In terms of the current process, Eskom requested representations and/or submissions to be made by all affected parties on or before 24 January 2020. We further advised that final representations and/or submissions were due by no later than close of business on 24 January 2020. A final decision will be made and published on 4 February 2020 after all representations and submissions have been considered,” said Daphne Mokwena, the Senior Manager for Customer Service in Gauteng.
 
Eskom has not received any representation, submission, presentation, or comments on why it should proceed with the contemplated supply disconnection or not. “If we do not receive any form of submission from affected parties, we will continue with the planned supply disconnection on 20 February 2020, as there are no submissions for consideration,” added Mokwena.
 
Mokwena urged affected parties to express their objections or support for the intention to disconnect the supply to Westrand Power Distributors on 20 February 2020. The disconnection will affect the mining community of Westvillage.
