No loadshedding expected today
Monday, 20 January 2020: No loadshedding is expected today, despite a rise in demand forecasted for this week. We have sufficient capacity to meet demand and we were able to replenish our emergency resources over the weekend, which will enable us to supplement power at short notice should the need arise.
Unplanned outages were at 11 712 MW as at 7:30 this morning. Our teams continue to work hard to reduce breakdowns to below 9 500 MW in order to increase available capacity and limit the risk of loadshedding.
We are monitoring the system closely and we will continue to give periodic updates on the status of the power system as things may change at short notice. We ask customers to continue to use electricity wisely to assist us to avoid or limit the level of loadshedding.
