Eskom resumes repairs at Blair Athol and surrounding areas
Friday, 6 November 2020: Eskom technicians are on site working on repairing a cable fault which has caused an electricity outage affecting customers in Blair Athol and surrounding areas. 
 
Work resumed this morning after operations were interrupted by heavy rains which flooded trenches dug as part of the repair work.  The power utility is unable to provide an estimated time of restoration at this stage. Earlier this week Eskom reported that its customers across Gauteng province were experiencing an extended power supply interruption due to multiple network faults, coupled with storms affecting some parts of the province.
 
Eskom said that due to the high call volumes, it would take an extended period of time to completely clear the backlog and restore supply to all affected customers. The Eskom recovery teams are working around the clock towards repairing the faults and damages to restore supply to the affected areas.
 
Eskom apologises for the inconvenience caused to its customers and wishes to assure them that they are doing their best to restore supply.  For safety reasons, customers are urged to treat all electricity points as live at all times.
 
The Eskom Contact Centre is currently inundated with calls and customers are encouraged to use other channels to log a fault to minimise the long waiting periods.
