WORK UNDERWAY TO REPLACE COLLAPSED TOWERS FEEDING WELKOM
MONDAY, 26 OCTOBER 2020, 15:00: Work is in progress to dismantle and replace two 132 kV towers on the Everest-Welkom Bulk feeder that collapsed yesterday evening due to storms in the Gold Fields.

Electricity supply to large parts of Welkom has been interrupted since 20h00 on Sunday, 25 October 2020.  The whole CBD, industrial area, Bronville, Mandela Park, Doorn, Extensions 9 and 15, and parts of Extension 19 will be without electricity supply for the remainder of today and a portion of tomorrow.

It is expected that work will be completed by mid-day on Tuesday, 27 October 2020.  In the meantime, affected consumers are reminded to treat all electrical installations as live and dangerous as electricity can be switched on without notice.

Eskom apologises for the inconvenience and asks for consumers to be patient while restoration is being performed.
