INTRODUCTION

The Electricity Supply Commission (ESCOM)  acquired the 3,4 MW diesel power station at Port Shepstone in 1944. It operated this station as part of the Natal South Coast system until 1969. By 1969, the South Coast was well integrated into a larger Natal system and did not require further local generation.​​​​
