Renewables performance
There is a global drive towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, and RSA is no exception. There is already a large amount of renewable plants operational in the country, with more still in the plans to come online.
Hourly renewable generation
Hourly renewable generation per resource type for the current and previous month. This only reflects renewable owned by Eskom or that Eskom has contracts with. Embedded generation is not included.
Total hourly renewable generation
This is a total of the hourly renewable generation per resource type for the current and previous month. This only reflects renewable owned by Eskom or that Eskom has contracts with. Embedded generation is not included. This aggregation is done to show the total impact the renewables have.
Wind generation weekly load factor
Load Factor is the ratio of the energy generated over a specific time versus the maximum generating capability over the same period. Specific reference is made to wind generation in this case. It can be noted that, in general, the load factors for wind are significantly higher during the summer months.
