Since its inception in 2004 up to 2015, the Integrated
Demand Management (IDM) programme focused mainly on energy efficiency and
reducing demand for the benefit of
South Africa. With Eskom's improved generation plant performance and progress
on the new build programme since 2015,
Eskom is now experiencing a phase of relatively stable supply, and for certain
hours of the day the country has operational reserves. As a result, IDM's role
has changed significantly but remains a vital mechanism to effectively manage
the electricity supply and demand balance on the national power grid.
The
central focus of IDM is to offer customers a
new portfolio of strategic incentives and solutions. These solutions help
customers to improve their energy productivity, which will in turn help to
