The DET is an enabler for Eskom Distribution to meet the needs of an evolving electricity distribution landscape for the benefit of all customers. The DET will enable the integration of flexible generation, flexibility product transactions whilst adding more GWh to the Distribution grid.

To leverage electricity trading the DET offers:

• Enablement of electricity trading transactions. The first product is Standard Offer
• Purchase of demand resources offers from customers and non-Eskom generators connected in the distribution grid.
• Aggregation of small-sized generation enabling individuals, traders, and aggregators to sell their electricity into the Distribution grid.
• Ancillary service sales for network regulation by DSO’s and the National Transmission System Operator from distribution energy resources including demand management, battery energy storage and grid-tied microgrids.

The DET is the only South African electricity trader with a national footprint. All customers and non-Eskom generators can now access the DET.
