Eskom and the National Cleaner Production Centre have been strategic partners for years, serving the industrial and commercial energy users in their quest for cleaner production, efficiency in energy use and creating opportunities for energy efficient projects.

Why energy management

Energy efficiency is regarded internationally as the “first fuel” – a source of energy in its own right, justifying investment and attention in the journey to affordable, sustainable energy. Energy efficiency done well is really energy management. No company would neglect the management of its financial and human resources, or its input materials, but energy is not always regarded as a resource to be managed throughout the organisation.

Eskom and NCPC-SA’s energy management support for businesses

Businesses in industrial and commercial sectors can request support to implement energy management systems (EnMS) from the (NCPC-SA).
Eskom’s technically qualified advisory team is available to assist with your technical questions.
The NCPC-SA is a national industry support programme that promotes the implementation of resource efficient and cleaner production (RECP) methodologies to assist companies to lower costs through reduced energy, water and materials usage. It is hosted by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) on behalf of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic).
The NCPC-SA has various services to advise you to improve your energy management. An Eskom advisor is an active role player in this, there to assist you with the technical details in your discussions with technology suppliers or funders.

An NCPC-SA energy expert will evaluate your company’s energy use patterns, and depending on the size and nature of your business, the NCPC-SA can offer you:

  • Energy management training at end-user and expert level

  • Technical assistance ranging from implementation support to measurement and verification (M&V) of energy savings
  • Advice and support to apply for tax incentives or EE financing opportunities
  • Implementation support and assistance with the journey to ISO 50001 certification

ISO 50001 – the next level
