Stage 1 loadshedding tomorrow
Friday, 18 October 2019: Eskom will continue with Stage 2 loadshedding today until 23:00. Stage 1 loadshedding will be implemented on Saturday, 19 October from 9:00 until 23:00.

The electricity system remains under severe pressure with several generation units that are out of service. Recovery efforts are underway to fix coal handling issues at Medupi and to expedite the return of units that experienced technical problems. Our emergency response command centre will be meeting early tomorrow to assess the progress overnight and the prognosis for the weekend and coming week. We hope to have recovered adequately by Sunday so that South Africans can enjoy watching the Bokke playing in the World Cup.

We will keep South Africans informed about the status of the electricity system and our recovery efforts throughout this period.

Eskom customers can check their loadshedding schedules on the Eskom website (loadshedding.eskom.co.za) or through the customer contact centre on 0860037566.

We appeal to customers to continue to use electricity sparingly throughout the day by doing the following:
•           Set air-conditioners’ average temperature in summer at 23ºC
•           Be energy efficient and change your light bulbs to energy efficient lights/LED’s
•           Use the cold water tap rather than using the geyser every time
•           Set your swimming pool pump cycle to run twice a day, three hours at a time for optimal energy use.
•           At the end of the day, turn off computers, copiers, printers and fax machines at the switch. Avoid stand-by or sleep mode.

Eskom sincerely apologises to our customers and South Africans for the inconvenience caused.
