The Foundation identifies and supports a variety of educational programmes throughout the country, promoting quality education from early childhood development right through to education at a tertiary level.
 
It is an unfortunate reality that the delivery of quality education in South Africa faces innumerable challenges. In accordance with their belief that the key to making a sustainable difference in this country lies in education, Eskom is committed to addressing those obstacles in many ways.
They place particular emphasis on early childhood development, as intervention at an early stage is crucial for the development of a child’s educational abilities and other aspects of their development.
 
The Foundation also provides considerable support in the form of infrastructure development in rural schools in order to address the imbalances in the delivery of quality education in South Africa

Education:  The Foundation also provides considerable support in the form of infrastructure development in rural schools in order to address the imbalances in the delivery of quality education in South Africa. This includes the provision of classrooms, libraries, sports fields and other facilities that go a long way to improving the education provided by under-resourced schools in South Africa.
Environment:  If we are to make a sustainable impact on the country’s future, an important aspect in assuring sustainability is a commitment to the environment.
 
This is the message that Eskom’s energy and sustainability programme spreads to learners in schools across the country through their long-standing partnership with the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa (WESSA). This programme encourages support for the environment through over 150 projects in schools around the country.
 
Through the provision of resource materials and providing support to regional co-ordinators and educators, learners are empowered to research issues specific to their local environment, to find workable solutions and to address those issues.

Health:  The inequalities in healthcare that exist in this country make it imperative for the private sector to assist in restoring some of the imbalances. Eskom therefore includes healthcare as a core theme in their CSI programmes.
 
The Foundation is committed to the promotion of physical well-being and healthcare in communities where they operate.
 
Eskom supports preventative healthcare around the country by providing state-of-the-art mobile clinics which visit schools to provide dental and eye-care services, as well as general health check-ups.
