Objectives

The JET vision and strategy is integrated into Eskom’s long-term plans with a clear set of ambitions that have been defined.

Eskom’s definition of Just Energy Transition (JET)

The Just Energy Transition is about a movement towards a lower carbon future, whilst enabling the creation of job opportunities for those displaces by the replacement of coal by these new technologies.  The JET occurs in a phased manner over time.  It is not abrupt change, but is radical change for Eskom.

The JET will focus on  4 elements:

  1.  Just: doing better for people and the planet, growing localisation and industrialisation
  2.  Energy: cleaner, sustainable electricity provision
  3.  Transition: transformational change of business models, attracting green financing
  4.  Enablers: collaboration across constituencies
