ESKOM REACHES AGREEMENT WITH TSANTSABANE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY
FRIDAY, 28 FEBRUARY 2020: Eskom and the Tsantsabane Local Municipality in the Northern Cape have reached an agreement regarding the Municipality’s overdue debt to Eskom.  As a result, the planned discontinuation of supply to Postmasburg, due to commence on 03 March 2020, has been suspended.
A notice of Eskom’s intention to discontinue electricity supply due to non-payment for services rendered was served to the Tsantsabane and Emthanjeni Local Muncipalities in the Northern Cape on Friday, 14 February 2020.
While Eskom and Tsantsabane have reached an agreement, the discontinuation of Emthanjeni’s supply is still on the cards.  If no agreement is reached, supply to De Aar, Britstown and Hanover will be discontinued for 14 hours per day (06h00 until 20h00) from 03 March 2020 until the Municipality’s breach of its payment conditions with Eskom has been remedied.
