Wednesday,
04 March 2020: Eskom
has not implemented loadshedding since 22 February 2020. While we do not expect
to implement loadshedding today, the possibility of loadshedding remains. We
are currently utilising emergency generation reserves to supplement supply. The
generation system remains constrained, vulnerable and unpredictable. Owing to
the high unplanned outages or breakdowns, there is a possibility that we may
have to implement loadshedding at short notice should there be an undesirable
change in the generation system performance.
Unplanned
breakdowns or outages were at 11 479MW as at 07:30 this morning and planned
maintenance outages are at 4 660MW.
We
remind South Africans that there is a possibility of increased loadshedding as
we are conducting critical maintenance to restore the ageing plant to good
health.
We
request customers to continue to use electricity sparingly and to assist us in
reducing demand:
Set air-conditioners’ average temperature at 23ºC
Switch off your geysers over peak periods
Use the cold water tap rather than using the geyser every time
Set your swimming pool pump cycle to run twice a day, three hours at a time
At the end of the day, turn off computers, copiers, printers and fax machines
at the switch.
We
appeal to customers to revisit their loadshedding schedules on the Eskom (http://loadshedding.eskom.co.za)
or local municipal websites, depending on their electricity
supplier, to review amendments.
