CABLE THEFT LEADS TO FIRE AND DAMAGE AT SUBSTATION
TUESDAY, 10 NOVEMBER 2020: Electricity supply to parts of Bethlehem as well as customers feeding from surrounding rural lines was interrupted at 02h00 this morning. Theft and resultant damage at the Groenvoerlande Substation outside the Free State town led to a fire at the substation.  Eskom has since managed to restore supply to all affected customers.

The fire has been contained after causing excessive and costly damage to infrastructure at the substation.

Eskom condemns such unacceptable acts of theft and vandalism.

Enquiries can be directed to the Eskom Contact Centre at 08600 ESKOM / 37566.
