FRIDAY, 13 NOVEMBER 2020: Electricity supply to large parts of Thabong in the
Free State that have been interrupted since Friday, 06 November 2020, was
restored this morning.
The outage occurred when a transformer at the Thabong
East substation failed and had to be replaced. While the transformer was
energised last night, it could only take load this morning.
We commend the Eskom teams who worked around the clock
to execute this complicated task and thank all stakeholders who partnered with
us in the interest of restoring supply to our customers.
Unfortunately, cable theft on the Thabong East-Delta
feeder resulted in 622 customers still being without supply. It is
estimated that supply to these customers will be restored by 16h00 this
afternoon once the stolen cables have been replaced.
Eskom apologises for the inconvenience experienced by
its customers in affected areas of Thabong and thanks them for their patience
during this lengthy outage.
Customers who are still be affected by the outage are
reminded to treat all electrical lines, sockets and appliances as live and
dangerous at all times.
Enquiries can be directed to the Eskom Contact Centre at
