MONDAY, 09 NOVEMBER 2020: Given numerous complications, it has become highly
unlikely that electricity supply to parts of Thabong in the Free State that
have been without electricity supply since 11h45 on Friday, 06 November 2020,
will be restored by tomorrow, as previously estimated.
To date we have managed to secure a replacement
transformer and the required transport. The transformer is being
transported from Mpumalanga and should be on site by tomorrow, 10 November
2020. Preparation of the site has commenced. This includes the
dismantling and draining of the faulty transformer. Matjhabeng Local
Municipality is assisting us in preparing the access road for the low-bed
truck.
It is expected that supply to the areas affected by a
transformer failure at Thabong East substation will be switched back on in the
late night hours of Thursday, 12 November 2020, if all goes according to plan
and if rain or other adverse weather conditions do not cause further delays.
Eskom apologises for the inconvenience and assures
customers that the repairs are being attended to with the required urgency.
Electricity users are urged to treat all electrical
lines, sockets and appliances as live and dangerous at all times.
Enquiries can be directed to the Eskom Contact Centre at
