CABLE THEFT LEAVES WARDEN RESIDENTS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY
MONDAY, 19 OCTOBER 2020: Residents of Warden and Zenzeleni in the Free State as well as surrounding rural customers have been without electricity supply since 01h00 this morning due to cable theft at the Warden Rural Substation.

Eskom customers on the Warden-Gryskop, Warden-Reitz, Warden-Verkykerskop, Warden-Sterkdam, Warden-Witkoppen and Warden-Holspruit lines are affected.

Replacement of the stolen cables and reparation of other damaged equipment will commence this morning.  Due to the extent of the damage to the substation, work is expected to be completed in the early morning hours of tomorrow, 20 October 2020, at which time electricity supply to Warden will be restored.

Eskom condemns this criminal behaviour which is not only costing Eskom and municipalities millions but also results in inconvenience to electricity consumers.

Those who are affected by the outage are urged to treat electrical equipment as live and dangerous at all times as electricity supply may be switched on without notice.
