Friday, 11 September 2020: Eskom is pleased to inform the public that no
loadshedding is expected for this weekend due to lower demand and the
improvement in the available generation capacity.
While
this is the case, Eskom would like to remind the public that the system remains
constrained and vulnerable, and should there be any significant breakdowns,
loadshedding may have to be implemented at short notice. Eskom will continue to
communicate should there be any further changes.
Unplanned
breakdowns amount to 8 947MW of capacity, adding to the 6 620MW currently out
on planned maintenance. Eskom teams are working around the clock to return as
many of these generation units to service as soon as possible.
Eskom would like to thank the people
of South Africa for their cooperation through the difficulties imposed by the
constrained supply capacity. Please continue using electricity sparingly in
order to assist Eskom to stave off the implementation of loadshedding.
