Eskom Tutuka Power Station employee dismissed for theft of drums of Hydraulic Fuel Oil

Thursday, 29 February 2024: Karabo Twala, an Eskom employee from Tutuka Power Station was found guilty on charges of theft of 5×210 litres of Hydraulic Fuel Oil and was dismissed from Eskom employment on 22 February 2024. He had earlier been found guilty and sentenced by the Standerton Magistrate Court on related criminal charges.

“We welcome the outcome of the disciplinary hearing. Eskom has zero tolerance for acts of dishonesty and will ensure that employees who are involved in such acts are dealt with harshly,” said Botse Sikhwitshi, the Acting General Manager for Security at Eskom.

Eskom urge the public to report information regarding illegal electricity sales, fraud, the theft of coal, fuel oil, and diesel and all other electricity-related crimes to the Eskom Crime Line: 0800 11 27 22. Reporting can be done anonymously.
