Apollo substation at full capacity
Thursday, 10 December 2015: Eskom is progressing well with the maintenance of its power generating plant whilst supplying the country’s electricity needs.
Eskom is pleased to announce that the converter at the Apollo substation in Midrand that experienced a technical fault early this week was returned to service last night, three days ahead of schedule.
The quick turnaround now allows us to regain the 220 MW and return to full daily imports of 1500 MW of power from Cahora Bassa. The investigation into the root cause of the technical fault has still not been finalised.
We will continue to provide regular updates on the state of the power system through various media platforms.
