Eskom postpones final decision to interrupt supply at Mogale City Local Municipality
Wednesday 26 February 2020: Eskom has decided not to proceed with the publication of the final decision on interruption of supply at the Mogale City Local Municipality, which decisions were planned to be published this week.

Eskom has received substantial submissions by interested parties and they are currently in review.  This follows the public notice on Mogale City Local Municipality that was published on 17 January 2020.  The notice called upon all affected parties to make submissions, written representations or comments indicating why Eskom should or should not proceed with its contemplated interruptions contained in that notice.

In order for Eskom to meaningfully engage and consider all the submissions received, it was seen as necessary not to proceed as intended.  “We will also continue to engage with all relevant stakeholders and we will inform the public by the week of 6 March 2020 of the outcome of the submissions received and the final decision on the matter”, says Daphne Mokwena, Senior Manager for Customer Services in the Gauteng Operating Unit.

Eskom trusts its decision will encourage the affected parties to put pressure on the municipality to meet its constitutional, statutory and contractual obligations and make good on the repayment of the electricity debt.
