Sunday,
05 January 2020: Loadshedding
will be terminated at 23:00 this evening, earlier than anticipated as our water
levels at pumped storage schemes have been adequately replenished. We have
managed to conserve diesel at our open cycle gas turbine generators, and
continue to work to replenish the diesel levels.
The
system remains constrained and vulnerable, with unplanned breakdowns at
13 041 MW as at 21:00 on Sunday 5 January 2020. No loadshedding is
expected tomorrow, Monday 06 January 2020. However, should there be a significant
shift in plant performance and an increase in unplanned breakdowns,
loadshedding could be implemented at short notice.
We
continue to ask customers to reduce demand by using electricity sparingly as a
concerted collective effort can help to avoid or reduce the level of
loadshedding.
Customers
should note that some areas may take longer to be restored. If customers
experience outages for longer periods than announced, please contact your
supplier (Eskom or the Municipality) as this may be a localised power outage.
We
will keep customers informed on the status of the electricity system.
