Stage 4 and 5 loadshedding will continue to be implemented throughout the week

Monday, 06 March 2023: Stage 5 loadshedding will be implemented until 05:00 tomorrow. Thereafter, Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented until 16:00. This pattern will be repeated until further notice. Additional breakdowns could result in the increase in loadshedding stages at short notice.

A further update will be published as soon as any significant changes occur.

Over the past 24 hours, a generating unit each at Arnot, Tutuka and two units at Duvha Power Station were taken offline for repairs. The return to service of a generating unit each at Medupi, Matla, Tutuka and two units at Hendrina Power Station are delayed. The repairs to the damaged towers from Cahora Bassa in Mozambique are continuing and are anticipated to be completed by next week.

A generating unit each at Camden, Lethabo, Kriel, Majuba and Matimba power stations were successfully returned to service during this period.

Breakdowns currently amount to 17 622MW of generating capacity while 4 659MW of generating capacity is out of service for planned maintenance.

We urge all South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly to help alleviate the pressure on the power system.
