Eskom approves payment plans of Siyancuma and Magareng; suspends interruptions
 
THURSDAY, 6 DECEMBER 2018:  Plans submitted by the Siyancuma and Magareng Local Municipalities for the payment of their debt to Eskom, have been approved.  As a result, interruption of bulk electricity supply to these local municipalities has been suspended.  Interruptions were scheduled to commence on 11 December 2018. 
 
In public notices published on 23 November 2018, Eskom announced its decision to interrupt bulk supply to Siyancuma (Douglas and Griekwastad), Magareng (Warrenton), Tsantsabane (Postmasburg), Phokwane (Hartswater, Jan Kempdorp and Ganspan), Renosterberg (Phillipstown, Vanderkloof and Petrusville), Siyathemba (Prieska), Thembelihle (Hopetown and Strydenburg) and Khai Ma (Pofadder) Local Municipalities due to these municipalities’ non-adherence to their payment agreements with Eskom.
 
While interruptions to Siyancuma and Magareng Local Municipalities have been suspended, interruptions to the other six local municipalities are set to continue according to the following schedule:

Siyancuma and Magareng Local Municipalities’ adherence to their payment agreements will be closely monitored.  Non-adherence will result in supply interruptions being instituted with 14 days’ notice.
