Cable thieves successfully prosecuted and imprisoned
Monday, 04 June 2018: Eskom is happy to report the successful prosecution of two thieves who were found guilty of theft of an underground cable at Eskom College Substation, Kaalfontein in Midrand early in January 2018.
The two were convicted last week Monday after investigations led their arrest and the recovery of the stolen cable. The accused were found guilty under the Criminal Matters Amendment Act 18 of 2015 and sentenced to three (3) years imprisonment.
Eskom is most pleased with the outcome of the trial and hope the conviction sends a stern warning to deter any would be electricity network thieves from such costly acts of criminality.
