Eskom response to supply challenges reports in Ekurhuleni
Saturday, 17 August 2019:  Eskom distances itself from the power outages that left several suburbs in Ekurhuleni without electricity supply. The outages affected the Germiston and Alberton areas on 12 August and 17 August 2019 respectively.

“Eskom has learnt from various media platforms that the loss of power supply to several suburbs in the City of Ekurhuleni is attributed to our equipment failure. Eskom would like to correct the reports and state that the fault occurred on the City of Ekurhuleni network and that its technicians have since attended to the matter and restored supply to affected customers,” says Motlhabane Ramashi, Senior Manager for Operations and Maintenance in the Gauteng Operating Unit.

In conclusion, Eskom is committed to work with the respective municipalities across Gauteng in resolving electricity-related faults, and addressing any power outage caused by equipment or network failure. “We will continue to provide any support, where required, protect our infrastructure and provide service to our customers including municipalities,” says Ramashi.
