INVITATION OF SUITABLE CANDIDATES TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF ESKOM HOLDINGS SOC LTD
Thursday, 3 July 2025: The Minister of Electricity and Energy, Hon. Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, MP, hereby invites suitable candidates to be considered for appointment as Non-Executive Directors of the Eskom Board.
Eskom is a State-Owned Company (SOC) whose mandate is to provide electricity in an efficient and sustainable manner, contributing to the South African economy and improving the quality of life. This involves ensuring security of supply, managing the power system to meet demand, and supporting economic growth.
Interested candidates possessing extensive qualifications and/or experience in one, or more, of the following disciplines or areas of expertise, particularly candidates with executive level experience, preferably in the Energy Sector, are encouraged to submit their applications:-

Applicants must submit a comprehensive cover letter indicating (amongst other things) the following: –
a)The full name, address and contact numbers of the person;
b) A Curriculum Vitae of the applicant, providing the following information: Full name; ID number and gender; latest postal address, contact and fax numbers/ email; previous experience quoting dates and organisations or institutions concerned; academic qualifications and other directorships;
c) Copy of RSA Identity Document and copies of qualifications;
d) Disclosure of current and/or potential interests, including contracts and shareholdings, in relation to the Board of Eskom in compliance with the requirements of section 50(3) of the Public Finance Management Act, 01 of 1999 and section 75 of the Companies Act, 71 or 2008, respectively;
e) Whether or not the applicant has a criminal record, details of any defaults, judgments or legal proceedings instituted by or against the applicant in the last 5 years (including disciplinary proceedings initiated by a current or former employer);
f) Whether or not the applicant has ever been disqualified, placed on probation or declared a delinquent Director in accordance with the prescripts of the Companies Act, 71 of 2008; and
g) Any other information that may be of assistance to the Minister in considering the application.
Further considerations:
a) Applications will be subject to the preferred candidates obtaining necessary security clearance;
b) Preference will be given to candidates whose appointment will enhance representativity;
c) Correspondence will be limited to short-listed candidates only; and
d) Appointment is subject to Cabinet approval.
