Loadshedding will be implemented at Stage 3 over the evening peak periods and suspended from midnight until 16:00 until further notice

Sunday, 25 June 2023: Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented at 16:00 until midnight today and loadshedding will be suspended from midnight until 16:00 on Monday. This pattern will continue daily throughout the week until further notice. Eskom will publish another update should any significant changes occur.

Breakdowns currently amount to 16 524MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 4 376MW.

Over the last 24 hours, a generating unit each at Hendrina, Kriel and Medupi power stations were returned to service.

In the same period, a generation unit each at Arnot and Medupi power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns.

The delays in returning to service a generating unit each at Grootvlei, Hendrina and Tutuka power stations are contributing to the current capacity constraints. Eskom teams are working around the clock to return these generating units to service over the next few days.

We thank those South Africans who do heed the call to use electricity sparingly and efficiently, including switching off geysers from 17:00 to 21:00, as this lowers demand and helps in alleviating the pressure on the power system and contributes to lower stages of loadshedding.
