Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 today until midnight, as previously communicated. Thereafter, Stage 1 loadshedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00 on Thursday.

Wednesday, 28 June 2023: Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 until midnight today as communicated earlier. Thereafter, loadshedding will be suspended from midnight until 05:00 tomorrow. On Thursday, Stage 1 loadshedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00, followed by Stage 3 loadshedding until midnight. This pattern will be repeated on Friday. Eskom will publish another update should any significant changes occur. Please refer to the loadshedding table below for the schedule:

Breakdowns currently amount to 16 356MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 3 023MW.

Over the past 24 hours, a generating unit each at Duvha, Grootvlei and Majuba power stations were returned to service.

In the same period, a generation unit each at Kriel and Majuba power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns.

The delays in returning to service a generating unit each at Grootvlei, Hendrina and Tutuka power stations are contributing to the current capacity constraints. Eskom teams are working around the clock to return these generating units to service over the next few days.

We thank those South Africans who do heed the call to use electricity sparingly and efficiently, including switching off geysers from 17:00 to 21:00, as this lowers demand and helps in alleviating the pressure on the power system and contributes to lower stages of loadshedding.
