Loadshedding will be implemented at various stages until Wednesday

Sunday, 30 April 2023: Stage 3 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 today until 05:00 on Monday. Thereafter, various stages of loadshedding will be implemented as per the loadshedding table below:

Breakdowns are currently at 17 702MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 3 702MW.

Over the past 24 hours a generation unit each at Matla and Medupi power stations were returned to service.

In the same period, a generating unit each at Grootvlei and Lethabo power stations were taken offline for repairs. The delays in returning a unit to service at Arnot, Duvha, Kriel and Lethabo power stations contributed to the current capacity constraints. The team is working around the clock to ensure that generating units are returned to service as soon as possible.

We thank those South Africans who do heed the call to use electricity sparingly and efficiently in helping to alleviate the pressure on the power system, as this is assisting in avoiding higher stages of loadshedding.
