KAMIESBERG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY AVERTS DISCONTINUATION OF ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
TUESDAY, 18 FEBRUARY 2020: Kamiesberg Local Municipality in the Northern Cape avoided daily 14 hour supply interruptions by making a sufficient payment to Eskom for electricity supplied to the Municipality.  As a result of the payment, the interruption, due to commence today, was suspended yesterday evening.

From 06h00 this morning, electricity consumers in Garies, Kroonsig, Kamieskroon, Kheis, Nourivier, Paulshoek, Spoegrivier, Lepelsfontein and Klipfontein would have been impacted due to Kamiesberg Local Municipality’s breach of its payment conditions concluded with Eskom.

“We are pleased by the outcome of this intervention and will continue to put pressure on Kamiesberg and other municipalities to ensure that money due to Eskom is paid on time,” says Klaas Gouws, General Manager of the Northern Cape Operating Unit.
