SUPPLY TO FREE STATE TOWNS RESTORED FOLLOWING CABLE THEFT
WEDNESDAY, 18 NOVEMBER 2020, 14H45:  Electricity supply to Greenlands Substation in the Free State has been restored after the substation was the target of cable thieves during the early hours of this morning. 
 
Supply to Frankfort, Heilbron, Namahadi and all affected rural lines returned at 13h45 this afternoon. 
 
We thank affected consumers for their patience during this supply interruption.  Any customers who are still without electricity supply following the outage should contact their electricity service provider.

CABLE THEFT LEAVES FREE STATE TOWNS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
 
WEDNESDAY, 18 NOVEMBER 2020:  Cable theft at Greenlands Substation has left electricity users in and around Frankfort, Heilbron and Namahadi in the Free State without supply since the early hours of this morning.
 
Approximately 5 000 direct Eskom customers are affected.  This is in addition to the customers who are supplied by the affected municipalities. 
 
The following rural lines are affected:
 
·        Tweefort – Beta
·        Tweefort – Kalfontein
·        Graanlands – Balfour
·        Greenlands – Alpha
·        Greenlands Rural – Boere
If all goes according to plan, supply should be restored this evening.
 
We ask electricity consumers to please remain patient while Eskom addresses this outage caused by an inacceptable criminal act. 
 
Electricity users are also reminded that all electrical installations should be treated as live and dangerous at all times as electricity can be switched on without notice.
