Friday, 22 July 2022: Eskom is pleased to announce that loadshedding will be implemented at Stage 1 loadshedding at 16:00 – 24:00 this evening. Loadshedding will then be suspended as the generation system has recovered sufficiently at this point. Eskom thanks the public and all stakeholders for their patience and understanding during this difficult period of loadshedding.
While we are able to suspend loadshedding at this point, Eskom cautions that the power system constraints continue to persist. We urge the people of South Africa to continue using electricity sparingly. Should there be any further changes, Eskom will promptly communicate and implement any changes as may be required.
We currently have 3 693MW on planned maintenance, while another 14 261MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.
Eskom would like to remind the public that loadshedding is implemented only as a last resort to protect the national grid. We therefore urge all South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly especially during these uncertain times on the power system.
