Stage 1 and 3 loadshedding to be implemented over the weekend
Friday, 23 June 2023: Stage 1 loadshedding will be implemented from Saturday 05:00 until 16:00, followed by Stage 3 loadshedding from 16:00 until midnight, thereafter loadshedding will be suspended from midnight until 5:00 on Sunday. This pattern will be repeated on Sunday until midnight. Eskom will publish another update should any significant changes occur. Please refer to the loadshedding table below for the schedule:
Breakdowns have reduced to 14 675MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance has slightly increased to 3 908MW.
Over the past 24 hours, a generating unit each at Arnot, Kendal and Kriel power stations were returned to service.
Further delays in returning to service a generating unit at Grootvlei and two generating units at Hendrina Power Station are contributing to the current capacity constraints. Eskom teams are working around the clock to return these generating units to service over the next few days.
We thank those South Africans who do heed the call to use electricity sparingly and efficiently, including switching off geysers from 17:00 to 21:00, as this lowers demand and helps in alleviating the pressure on the power system and contributes to lower stages of loadshedding.
